Gond Art Form - Educational Arts & Crafts for Kids Activity Kit

Sold Out
£13.50

This learn-by-doing arts and crafts activity kit for kids educates children about the famous Indian art form, Gond of Madhya Pradesh, while they have a lot of fun painting and colouring in the Gond painting style. Perfect to get kids away from screens for a while and as a group activity for children during birthday parties. Makes for a thoughtful birthday gift or party favours too!

Gond painting is a traditional tribal art of central India, predominantly, the state of Madhya Pradesh. The colour cards in the kit are a collection of animals. Children can apply their Gond style decorations on the animal forms with the included poster colours and natural colours and make their own collection. Each card makes for memorable bookmarks.

This art kit is part of a series developed by Potli.org in India, to raise awareness of Indian traditional arts among children through fun activities. MadeWithLoveInIndia.co.uk is proud to collaborate with Potli to bring these kits to families in the UK.

The painting kit directly supports the artisans and helps in sustaining their art form. Potli is a member of the Fair Trade Forum India. This craft kit combines education with entertainment and engages children with non-digital and tactile play and helps enhance children’s creativity and imagination.

About Gond Art — Tribal Art of Madhya Pradesh, India

Deep in the forests of Central India, lives a tribe called Gond. The girls and boys of the Gond tribe are taught their traditional painting and other crafts at a very young age. Gond painting is done with very bright colours and the basic form is filled with tiny dots and dashes. This type of painting has no borders. Like most of the other tribal paintings, this also used to be done on the mud walls of houses. Originally, natural colours were used. This style of painting doesn't have rigid themes, instead, the Gond tribals allow their minds to wander and paint from their imagination, like a happy family, festivities, classroom with teacher and students, community life and different animals.
